Located in Downtown Detroit, the 5-story school house opened in 1868 and is one of the oldest Catholic school buildings in Michigan. The building also housed an orphanage and sisters’ residence. The school closed in 1966, the building then became the Saint Mary’s Community Center for a number of years. The 29,000-square foot building sat vacant for 10 years before renovations began in 2016. Listed as a Michigan State Historic Site. Federal Historic Tax Credit Project.

Now home to the headquarters of JACK Entertainment, which owns Greektown Casino. Once renovations were completed, JACK Entertainment, formerly known as Rock Gaming, moved their office from Woodward avenue into the 148-year-old schoolhouse. JACK Entertainment is owned by Rock Ventures, a company owned by Dan Gilbert. Saint Mary’s Old School building is connected to Gilbert’s Greentown Casino/Hotel by a pedestrian skyway that is undergoing renovation as well.
